March Madness

Hey,
How is it going? Sounds like things are going good. So March Madness is coming up. I am sad I am going to miss it but it is O.K. because I won't miss next year, and I have the rest of my life to watch sports, but only one more year to be a missionary. This week was a good week, we went and did some tracking on Saturday. We tracked a small street at one of the NHAs, and it was kind of cool because every person we talked to said we could come back except one. That never happens but those were just the people that opened their doors. I guess we will see how serious they are when we go back to see them this week. It is amazing how much having a good attitude makes on missionary work. I have had comps with good attitudes and bad attitudes, and the ones with good attitudes when I go tracking with them we always seem to get more people to talk to us. I have also gone tracking when I have had a bad attitude and haven't seen very good results verses when I have had a good attitude. We do have a baptism coming up this week on Saturday. His name is Bashony, he is a 10 year old kid that we have been trying to get baptized for awhile. His parents are members, and are not very helpful. We have had a interviews set up 3 times. They have ditched out every time but this time should work out. Well I got to go so I will talk to you later.

HI

Hey
How are things going? Anything new? This week was a good week. We got a new investigator named, Sherman, and he even came to church, so that is pretty cool. We should have some baptisms coming up on the 20th of March. One of the them is someone named Diane Morgon, and we also have someone named Boshony. That is pretty exciting! We have an investigator named Lynn that is being baptized on May 8th. She is way solid, and even bore her testimony yesterday in sacrament meeting. She is waiting until May to be baptized, so her and her 7 year old daughter can be baptized together. This week we found this waterfall that everyone has been telling us about that is in our area. It was way cool. It is probably 150 ft high so it is a pretty cool area. Then there are cliffs around it that are like 400 ft high, it is pretty crazy. I will send some picture of it sometime. We also had zone conference this week, and it was on the doctrine of baptism, and finding the elect. It was way good. So you met someone from Shiprock? That is pretty cool. We are only like 25 miles away from Shiprock. That is where we have district meetings. Well thanks for everything, and I will talk to you later.

How's it Going?

Hey, How is it going?

Things here are going good. me and my comp are getting along good. He is a cool guy, even though he doesn't like basketball. He is more into cars and rock climbing but he is still cool. Things in Teec are going good, we are finding more work to do, and finding success. I don't mind being district leader. Preparing for district meeting is probably the worst part but other than that I enjoy it. This week is zone conference so i don't have to prepare a district meeting. Zone conference are always good, so i am pretty excited about that. This week was kind of slow and the baptismal date we had set for this week are going to have to be pushed back because the people getting baptized missed there baptismal interview. We did find a few new people this week, mainly less actives that we ran into that we are going to try to get to come back to church, so that was good. This week i broke my camra so i can't take pictures anymore. It is way weird to think that this time last year I was in the MTC, it is crazy how time flies.

Happy February

Hey Whats up?
How are things going, anything new? I got your package on Tuesday thanks for the peanut butter popcorn, it was way good. Glad to here everything is going well, and dad is back healthy again. So you are going to have to send me a picture of Hannah's new hair cut, when you get a chance, and other picture from back home. Things in Teec are going good, it is definitely interesting training, especially on the reservation because it is not like your normal area. You can't just go tract. We need something to do because the houses are so spread out. I don't think that a missionary has ever been trained in Teec before. It is exciting that the mission boundaries are changing. If I got to pick what mission I would be in it would be the Albuquerque Mission because then maybe I would get to serve in Texas, and because I like Albuquerque better than Farmington. Although, I will be fine if I am in the Farmington Mission, and I have already served 10 months in Albuquerque. We got a new investigator this week named Phillisitia, we knocked on her door and she just let us right in. She could be way solid but I guess we'll see when we go back to see her on Friday. I got to go and we'll talk to you later.

Monday Monday

hey how is it going? things here are going good. so you got a new dog huh? i should have know you would name it marley, after just watching "marley and me" before i left. who picked out the name dad? or was it kelsea? well cool it is kinda sad not to be there this year for the 24th of july. they are having some kind of picnic here for the 24th but i am sure it won't be as cool as lunds celebration and i won't even get to go unless we have investigators going. but things are going good, we got transfer news the other day i am staying here in elderado and elder thatcher is going to los lunas. it should be good, my new companions name is elder andrus, i have heard that he isn't the easiest person to get along with but will see on tuesday i guess. but it is nice to be able to stay in this area it is just starting to pick up a little more and maybe i will get to see the fruits of my labors. we have one guy named paul bain and said he wasn't going to make the decision to get baptized until he finishes the book of mormon and he just finshed it sunday and two days before that we had a lesson on the plan of salvation with him. it went really well the spirit was way strong. his wife was there and she is a member and she bore her testimony of the plan of salvation and her conversion story it was a really good lesson. (members at the lessons make a big difference). but there is also another guy named bill goldrick that the missionaries have been teaching for like 2 years. at the beginning of the transfer we talked to him and resolved his concern and he said that he is ready to take that step towards baptism. he was on vacation for the last 3 week but he just got back and now we are going to give him a date. but other than that it was just a pretty ordinary week. my companion got sick on saturday so we didn't do anything that day. the bad part about staying is that i am stuck in a bike area for another transfer and everything is up hill from our apartment. well i hope you all have a good 24th of july let me know how it goes.

What's new

hey how is it going? things here are going good. so dudley died! man thats no good. i didn't even know that he had a tumor gosh. so pops is still sick . gosh you guys have alot of depressing news. you need to start working on getting some good news for next week. well i will pray for you. so you and kelsea went to st. george that sounds fun. things for me are going good we had kind of a slow week not too much exciting. so i do look good at 200lbs i have been working out. well we got a few new investigators this week so that was good hopefully when we go back to see them this week they will be there. transfers are next week so that will be exciting. i guess we will see what happens there. i didn't break my bike this week so that makes it a pretty good week. but other than that alot of people ditched out on us, i guess that is just part of being a missionary. even our dinner appointment on wednesday ditched out on us. i wasn't to sad because the lady that was going to feed us dinner is from india and she puts lot of seasoning on her food and it is not very good. it is like she puts a little bit of noodles with her seasoning. she felt really bad that she forgot about us coming over for dinner, we told her not to worry about it. well i think that is about it. well i hope things start picking up around there by next week. talk to you later

Happy 4th

hey whats up? how is everything going? anything new or exciting in lund? so pops is on a new medicine huh? so dads hay isn't up yet! dang. well i am glad that you liked elder thatchers letter and that he didn't talk any trash in his letter about me.. he is a cool kid and a hard worker, he is just a little guy too like 120 lb and he is 5'8". oh yeah by the way i am 200 lb now. pretty much getting to be a fatso. but that's all good. you would think i wouldn't gain weight anymore being in a bike area but i do. well this week was a good week it was the week that we meet with the mission president so that was good he is definitely inspired. we did get a new investigator this week she is a 13 year old girl named becca and i think the only reason that she likes us to talk to her is because she has a crush on us. but hey if my good looks helps some one to accept the gospel then i guess it is alright. her dad said it was alright if we teach her but he seemed pretty ornery about it. he definitely didn't want us to teach him but whatever. we talk to this guy the other day normally we don't bible bash with people but this guy answered the door and told us that mormonism is the cleanest way to hell. and then he talked about how he didn't need to work he accepted christ when he was 16 and now he doesn't need to do anything. he was pretty dumb. he told us that there is not prophet on the earth today and that the bible was the end of prophecy. i read him a scripture in john about how after christ performed all these miracles and how the scribes and the pharisees said, "for we know that moses spoke with god but of this man we know not." talking about jesus christ. then i ask him what that reminded him of, he didn't respond.. but there was all kinds of people that wanted to bible bash with us this week and it is hard to just walk away because they say such dumb things but it doesn't do any good to argue with them. one guy told us ( he was a pentecostal) that the gift of tongues was necessary for salvation. those kinda people are funny. well other than that things are going real good we have about 5 progressing investigators which is way better than last transfer in this area. elder thatcher told me there only one investigator in this area last transfer. so things are going good. oh yeah i almost forgot i broke my bike again. i bent the rim trying to bunny hop on to a curve, i was not going fast enough so the back rim nailed the curve. so i am probably going to have to buy a new rim. but thanks for all you guys do for me and i hope everything goes well.

We made it!

so you made it through girls camp huh? nice. sounds like it was pretty fun. well things for me have been going great. this week me and my companion set really high goals and we almost achieved them. it was a way good week the only bad thing that happened this week is that one of our investigators freaked out on us because we said that the bible has been change a little though out time and she was mad, she thinks that the bible is the only word of god and thinks that the lds church is corrupt. but oh well. she is really crazy anyway, she just likes going to church because everyone was nice. she wasn't really looking for a religion. we had talked to her about the apostasy before but i guess it didn't register. she leaves us 5 minute long message on our answering machine about how she felt the umptionings of the holy spirit telling her to lose weight and all kinds of crazy stuff. i don't even know what a umptioning is. but her messages make us laugh. we have about 4 people we are teaching that are progressing towards baptism. one guy this week asked us to start teaching him the lesson because he wants to get baptized but he wants to know if it is true first which is good. i don't think that anyone will be getting baptized this transfer but i think that next transfer there will be some. i hope i don't get transfered to see some of the friuts of my labors, it is lame to only stay in an area for a transfer at a time cause you can't really get things going but i guess we will see what happens. today for p-day we went and had a zone activity and we played frisbee and soccer it was way fun. then we went and got slurpees at seven eleven so it was good. other than that i can't think of anything to exciting going on right now. we don't have much time cause we got an appointment at seven so talk to you later..

working hard

hey how is it going? sounds like everything is going good there. so mom your going on the girl camp hike huh? well dang have you been training at all or getting ready? this is where all those walks with dudley payes off. tell dad to keep his needles to him self or maybe he can practice on dudely. but yeah so i am going to send my letter to grandma sherie to your house cause i lost her address so when you get it please send it to her. i am also send dad a letter for fathers day but tell him happy fathers day anyway. everthing here is going good, me and elder thatcher work good together and are definitly getting a lot done. this area is picking up, we are getting quite a few new investigators. i do miss my old area because we had more peope to teach and it was a car area. the people are middle class to upper class people. the people in my old area are either upper class or lower class and i guess there is quite a bit of in between, my last area was such a big area you had a little bit of everything now i am in the smallest area in albuquerque and everyone is pretty much middle class. my new area is right up agianst the mountian so it is small but there is a lot of hills so it makes it fun riding a bike. my bike broke last week like i told you and i end up having to spend 80$ on it so that stunk but it normally would have cost me 130$ but the guy gave me a 30% distcount and free labors so that was pretty good. but other than that things are going good we have about 3 investigators that have a possibility of getting baptized this transfer two of them are a couple they want to get baptized the most but they have to get married and stop smoking first. they are trying because they want to be baptized. we gave them a date to work towards which is july 18th and they want to change. our other investigators name is rosy she is a little bit crazy but she has been coming to church every sunday for the past two weeks, the ward here is doing a great job of fellowshiping her which makes a big difference, so if the missionaries there bring an investigator to church be sure to fellowship them because some investigators in my old area wouldn't come to church anymore because no one talk to them so they felt awkward. well that is pretty much it i think. i will talk to you later.

rain, rain, go away.

hey it was good to hear from you guys this week. it has been a good week. transfers were on tuesday so that was good, elder thatcher has only been out one transfer and i have been out 2, so i am a little older than him, most of the time the companion that has been out longer is the senior but sometime that is not true. i am enjoying my new area it is pretty safe. the areas in the south side of albuquerque are the scary ones down by central. i am enjoying a bike area, i have only crashed once so far. i did brake my bike the other day so i took it the the bike shop to get it fixed. i have to get a new crank shaft but the guy at the bike shop is mormon and gives a 30% discount on everthing and free tune ups so it is only going to cost me 30 dollars to fix it but i am going to have to take some money out of my debit account. but there are lots of nice people in this area and dinners are almost alway provided by members so that works out great other wise i wouldn't be able to survive. we have two sweet investigators up here that the missionaries found a couple days before i got here and they will be baptized for sure. we have a baptizmal date set for the 18th of july for them and they are way excited. the only proplem is that we went to go see them the other day and the manager of the apartments that they live in said not to come back there any more. we are going to go back anyway because as long as we don't knock doors it is illegal to kick us out. the reason that they told us that is because people were complianing that we were in there i guess, but i think everything will work out so i am not to worried. i am really enjoying the mission and am greatfull for all the support. thank you kelsea for all the letters i enjoy them. but hey next time you send me a package send me a few of my ties becaus i am getting tired of my ties i need some different ones.
