March Madness

Hey,
How is it going? Sounds like things are going good. So March Madness is coming up. I am sad I am going to miss it but it is O.K. because I won't miss next year, and I have the rest of my life to watch sports, but only one more year to be a missionary. This week was a good week, we went and did some tracking on Saturday. We tracked a small street at one of the NHAs, and it was kind of cool because every person we talked to said we could come back except one. That never happens but those were just the people that opened their doors. I guess we will see how serious they are when we go back to see them this week. It is amazing how much having a good attitude makes on missionary work. I have had comps with good attitudes and bad attitudes, and the ones with good attitudes when I go tracking with them we always seem to get more people to talk to us. I have also gone tracking when I have had a bad attitude and haven't seen very good results verses when I have had a good attitude. We do have a baptism coming up this week on Saturday. His name is Bashony, he is a 10 year old kid that we have been trying to get baptized for awhile. His parents are members, and are not very helpful. We have had a interviews set up 3 times. They have ditched out every time but this time should work out. Well I got to go so I will talk to you later.

How's it Going?

Hey, How is it going?

Things here are going good. me and my comp are getting along good. He is a cool guy, even though he doesn't like basketball. He is more into cars and rock climbing but he is still cool. Things in Teec are going good, we are finding more work to do, and finding success. I don't mind being district leader. Preparing for district meeting is probably the worst part but other than that I enjoy it. This week is zone conference so i don't have to prepare a district meeting. Zone conference are always good, so i am pretty excited about that. This week was kind of slow and the baptismal date we had set for this week are going to have to be pushed back because the people getting baptized missed there baptismal interview. We did find a few new people this week, mainly less actives that we ran into that we are going to try to get to come back to church, so that was good. This week i broke my camra so i can't take pictures anymore. It is way weird to think that this time last year I was in the MTC, it is crazy how time flies.

Happy February

Hey Whats up?
How are things going, anything new? I got your package on Tuesday thanks for the peanut butter popcorn, it was way good. Glad to here everything is going well, and dad is back healthy again. So you are going to have to send me a picture of Hannah's new hair cut, when you get a chance, and other picture from back home. Things in Teec are going good, it is definitely interesting training, especially on the reservation because it is not like your normal area. You can't just go tract. We need something to do because the houses are so spread out. I don't think that a missionary has ever been trained in Teec before. It is exciting that the mission boundaries are changing. If I got to pick what mission I would be in it would be the Albuquerque Mission because then maybe I would get to serve in Texas, and because I like Albuquerque better than Farmington. Although, I will be fine if I am in the Farmington Mission, and I have already served 10 months in Albuquerque. We got a new investigator this week named Phillisitia, we knocked on her door and she just let us right in. She could be way solid but I guess we'll see when we go back to see her on Friday. I got to go and we'll talk to you later.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hey, How is it going?
Hey things are going good here in Teec. I ended up staying in Teec for another transfer, and my new companion is fresh out of the MTC, so i am training. They made me a district leader up in Teec. I couldn't email yesterday because it was President's Day plus I had to drive to Albuquerque yesterday to pick up my new companion. Well we also found out on Saturday that in July the Alb mission is going to be split into the Farmington New Mexico mission, and the Albuquerque mission. The Farmington mission is going to extend all the way to Flagstaff, Arizona and the Albuquerque mission is going to extend all the way down to El Paso, Texas. It is going to be a big change in mission boundaries. What mission I will be in will depend on where I am at on July 1st, it will be exciting to find out what mission i will be in. If I stay in Teec I will be in the Farmington Misssion but maybe I will get transfered before then. The Farmington mission is going to be mainly the Navajoo nation. Well my new companion is Elder Anderson, he is from South Dakota in Rapid City. He seems pretty cool. I am going to miss Elder Shuey, we got along way good but it will be an exciting transfer. The closes place to go shopping is in Shiprock ,which is like 23 miles away. That is where we have district meetings, so if we don't go to Farmington on p-day then we will shop in Shiprock on Thursdays after district meeting. You wanted to know if I'm eating healthy, so just to let you know I have been eating healthy, I make fried rice some times, and burritos, or make nachos like G-ma Kaye used too. I guess I will talk to you next week. Peace

Life in Teec

Hey, How is it going?
Things have been going good here? I am glad to hear everything went well with dad on Wednesday. Tell him he better start hitting the weight room if he wants to compete with me and my 207 lb of pure muscle. So another dog down huh? It seems like we had a streak before we got Dudley, where we couldn't get a dog to last more than 2 years, but hey as long as Hannah is still around, right. You guys wanted to know more about Teec. It is a lot like Duck Water, only bigger. The work here is good, but it is not as fast pace as Albuquerque, it is pretty laid back. There is enough members out here to probably have 2 wards but only 40 people come each week. A lot of the people out here, when they were younger, went on the placement program where they would go and live with an LDS family. They would go to school in Utah and while they were up there they would get baptized. Then later on move back to the reservation and never go to church again. A lot of the time their membership records got lost and so we have to reteach and baptize them all over again. It is a nice area and there are some cool people out here. My companion is really cool, he is from Caldwell, Idaho. He is going home this transfer but we have gotten along pretty well. We both have similar interests, and he is a basketball fan. We have a basketball court by our trailer so we go out and play sometimes. I have beaten my comp once in one on one, but he has beaten me twice, so he is pretty good. I did get my scriptures that Aunt Dawna sent me, so that is great. That is about everything going on. Transfer news is coming this week so we'll see what happens. I already know I am staying in Teec because President told me during interviews. I guess I will find out who my new comp is. Hey if you guys have time it would be way sick, if you could send me out some more peanut butter popcorn, but no hurry just if you guys want something to do.

..any were we go is muddy...

Hey, How is it going?
Things here are going well. I haven't got my new scriptures yet, but they will probably be here today or tomorrow. Thanks for sending them out to me. I have been getting along all right without them because before I left the mtc I bought a little pocket size Book of Mormon. I have read that one way more than my quad. I have it way more marked up and can teach most lessons out of it. Well the snow up here is mostly all melted but there is a ton of mud. Our truck is covered in mud and anywhere we go is muddy because most of the roads are dirt on the way to people's houses. We had a good week this week, we had 11 investigators at church and that is the most I have ever had come to church on my mission, so that was good. We had some good lessons this week. We should also have some baptisms coming up in the next couple weeks, that is if everything goes right. We had one investigator named Diane who had to have a special interview from a member of the mission presidency to be baptized. She passed and is ready to go. We have a few 12 year old kids that are ready too, so it is going pretty good. Well Dad, good luck on Wednesday and I will be praying for you! Kelsea it is good to hear you are doing good in your basketball games (how can you not do good being my little sister) Well I got to go, tell Aunt Dawna thanks for sending me out my scriptures.

News From Teec

Hey,
How is it going? I did get you guy's package, and the shirt and the coat fit great. Thank you. Last week we emailed at the chapter house in Teec, but it was closed on Monday, so we didn't email until Tuesday. Well our zone conference was really good, they talk about having the spirit with us, and they also talk about conversion, so it was good. They canceled Richard G. Scott coming because of weather conditions. We got tons of snow. In one of the towns in my area it seemed like they had 2 feet, but then it rain and melted a lot of it. This week I got got to try mutton stew which is a favorite among the Navajo, it was alright. I tried it at our branch pot luck. The work is going good in this area we have about 5 baptismal dates, some of them are just members that lost there records. Although we do have 2 investigators. They are a husband and wife that are getting baptized in the middle of February. That same guy who is getting baptized, about two weeks ago got drunk and wanted to fight me and my comp because he said we judge him when he was drunk, and he said a bunch of other dumb things. A couple days later we went over and talked to him and told him that he needs to start taking this commitment more seriously, and I think we got him back on track. Things are going pretty well except I lost my scriptures. I have a pocket size Book of Mormon and Bible. I have been teaching out of these but i don't know if i will be able to find my quad, so if you could send me out my old scriptures that would be great. Well thanks for everything and tell Karlie Happy Birthday and tell dad good luck with the surgery.

Transfer News

Dear Family and Friends,
Hey, How are things going? Thing are going good here. We got transfer news and I am finally leaving Eldorado. I am heading up to Teec Nos Pos, it is in Arizona by the four corners area in the middle of nowhere. I am pretty excited to hear I was going to the reservation. It will be a interesting experience. I was way stoked to leave. Then when I went to church on Sunday and said goodbye to everyone, it was kind of sad. I felt like I was having my farewell again, but I am excited to go. It is time for a change. My new companion will be Elder Shoey he seems like a cool guy. I have met him a few times playing football, and it seems like we will get along good. He is a pretty good football player. I am not sure of where he is from or anything, but I do know he is an older missionary. Everyone tells me that Teec Nos Pos is one of the highest baptizing area in the mission, so that will be cool. I will let you know more details next week. I'll talk to you next week.
